Inside Knowledge

A pair of young Emirati ride their jet skis at full throttle on Abu Dhabi Creek, with the impressive domes and minarets of the Grand Mosque in the distance. 

 A perspective such as this would not have been possible with out the inside knowledge of our hosts, who drove us to the Fairmont Hotel for this wonderful point of view. Like expert local guides, Debi and Dale revealed to us many fascinating locales throughout the UAE.

    The shades of gold and browns create very separate layers giving it wonderful depth from the sea in the foreground and the sky in the background and that magnificent mosque floating in between. Amazing.

    fascinating light and intriguing topical contrasts ... tradition and modern life side by side (thought the mosque is very new itself, too ...)
    people with a knowledge of local geography and local lore are truly indispensable when travelling ...

    What a fantastic and strange image that you captured here Doug... i have jet skis moving up and down our bay on the weekends all summer long... but to see them in a country surrounded by desert is way out there! ....peter:)
