French Quarter, Charleston, SC © Doug Hickok Here is our daughter wearing a Carnevale mask she brought back from Rome. She and her friends are in New Orleans today for the Mardi Gras celebration. So, on that note, happy Fat Tuesday, Shrove Tuesday, Mardi Gras, and Carnival to everyone! Today is the perfect day to feast on the biggest hot fudge sundae you can find. |
Excellent!
ReplyDeleteAnd a good time will be had by all! (Hopefully!)
ReplyDeleteCarnival is a pleasant period because she allows to disguise and to dress magnificent costumes. I like very much this composition.
ReplyDeleteTomorrow I shall post some a little bit ancient images of the Venice carnival.
Well, if you insist. I'll have mine with two cherries on top. Your daughter is so lovely, and wonderfully mysterious in her mardi gras mask.
ReplyDeleteA fine photo! The mask makes me curious about het 'ral face', but isn't that what a mask should do ;-)
ReplyDeleteSorry: real face
ReplyDeleteHappy celebration!
ReplyDeleteWhen I saw it, before reading the text, I recognized the style of the Italian masks. On my post from August,27, 2010 you may see a lot of such masks.
Great shot--love the warm light. Happy Fat Tuesday!
ReplyDeleteFantastic portrait! I like the warm temperature of this image. Carnevale mask is just awesome:)
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing.

And a happy Fat Tuesday, Shrove Tuesday, Mardi Gras, and Carnival to you and your family Doug. Great mask...albeit slightly creepy and good thinking to pose your daughter in front of that classical old facade.
ReplyDeleteHappy indeed!
ReplyDeleteNice one!
New Orleans is a fun place to be today. It always seemed to me that every day in Quarter was Mardi Gras. Fine photograph.
ReplyDeleteI'm so out of it. I had masks for both blogs and forgot all about Fat Tuesday. Well thank you for permission to overindulge today. Great shot!

ReplyDeleteVery nice portait with the building behind. Beautiful mask for the Carnaval !!
ReplyDeleteWhat a marvellous image, Doug! The golds in the mask are echoed in the out of focus background building, and the touches of green are complemented so well by the blue sky. Great work, then.
ReplyDeleteThanks Papa!!! We are still alive haha! Yaaaayyyy!!
ReplyDeleteNice angle! And I like your idea of a hot fudge sundae!
ReplyDeleteI guess that means it's all uphill for some now, Doug, right? I'm sure a lot of people did make up for it! :) I love the masks from Rome...and Venice. So fun.
