Not the usual take on Florence Italy's famous Medieval bridge,
but I like the bit of mystery evoked by not showing the whole structure.

The Ponte Vecchio was constructed in 1345, replacing a series of older bridges that dated back to the Roman era. It still has several levels of bustling shops, as it has had throughout its history. You can see some of the tourists in the open archways reflected in the Arno.

  1. A romantic place and movie scenery! Love this bridge and your picture is excellent!

  2. Hi Doug. I would return to Florence anytime. Love your take on the Ponte Vecchio. I have come to expect originality from you Doug. Mrs J and I finally travelled abroad recently; Marrakech, Malta, Athens and Santorini. Naturally we had our camera in tow. We travel light; one lens, no tripod. We are quite excited to be able to share a photo a day from our trip over at Melbourne Snaps. Hope you can drop in from time to time. Ciao J.

  3. I'm never quite sure how much 'above the water' I should keep in these sort of photos. You've done it quite nicely :)

    It's on my bucket list...

  5. The depth of this photo is awesome. It's like looking into the great abyss.

  6. I like your shot with emphasis on the reflection with just a small section of the bridge itself. Well done.

  7. Beautiful warm tones and great multi-layered composition! I love the poetic mood that emanates from this image!
