Rebecca of Arabia

Becky on a Camel Ride, near Al Ain, UAE  © Doug Hickok  All Rights Reserved

Becky rides a camel during our desert safari on a calm and beautiful evening. The constant rhythm of the camel's up and down motion made it a challenge to take photographs, so I set the camera on continuous shooting and fired away.

The word safari is a wonderful description of our adventure. Coming from the Arabic
safar, it means "journey." In fact our entire visit to the UAE was a journey never to be forgotten! Thanks again D & D!

  2. What a fabulous experience for your both. My wife and I had a similar experience at Ayers Rock about 8 years ago. Thanks for bringing back the memory. Each camel carried two people. My wife was in the front and I was in the back. I remember grabbing hold of my wife when the camel stood up to prevent her from toppling off. It was a wonderful adventure. Thanks for bringing back the memory.

  6. I rode a camel once, Doug, (at the safari zoo/park in Escondido, CA), and laughed hysterically the entire time. I'll never forget it! So I totally know how hard it must have been to get this image of Becky. I love it.

  11. Now you really make me wanna take a camel home!
They don't have bactrian camels in UAE, do they?
Otherwise, you can mount camera on the front hump... He he
    That'd make continuous shooting easier.
