Old Storm Door

Screen Door, Old Farm House, Village of Lewisburg, Ohio
© Doug Hickok  All Rights Reserved  (Velvia slide film)

A weathered screen comes loose from a storm door to reveal a second door within. Fortunately the screen has been repaired since I made this photograph, but I like this image as a glimpse of the old farm house's rough charm. This house in Ohio has been resilient over time... it is more than 150 years old... that's older than my straw hat and overalls.

  2. Anything that old in America is really old, Doug, for sure! This image reminds me of a "wheel within a wheel." :)

  3. I wonder if the hole in the screen was used as access by a beloved family pet.

  6. ... and it looks to have been kicked shut a few times too. I know the feeling. I live in a 200 year old farmhouse.

  7. I love beautiful wood texture of the barn door. The faded colors still have a long life, even if the storm door is somewhat damaged

  9. Door in door and frame in frame.
Would a broken screen help to speed up the door opening process?
Left hand on the outer doorknob; right hand on the inner door.
    Faster than my auto-gate!

  12. The screen was used for mosquitos, we still use such screens on windows. I like the piece of curtain behind. A complex photo, Doug, I can asked myself some questions about the house and its owners.
