Cape Creek Bridge, Coastal Highway 101, Oregon © Doug Hickok (Velvia slide film. Click on image for larger view.)
This arched bridge, reminiscent of an ancient Roman aqueduct, disappears into the Stygian shadows of a mountain ridge as daylight fades to night. Who knows where the road may lead, or what lies ahead... perhaps only the Fates can say. |
That is cool going into darkness !
ReplyDeleteGORGEOUS, Doug! I love the way you see things. :)
ReplyDeleteBrilliant capture, I like the light in the bridge, it's very beautiful and has a charming structure!
ReplyDeleteLéia
The light on the structure make this look quit eerie.
ReplyDeletelove how the bridge emerges from the darkness
ReplyDeleteWonderful image!
ReplyDeleteWell done Doug!
wonderful night shot, love the light here
ReplyDeleteGreat pic - and a great bungee jumping venue perhaps, especially for those who enjoy leaping into Stygian shadows!
ReplyDeleteWow, I love this. The golden light disappearing into complete darkness. Stunning.
ReplyDeleteThe most beautiful play of light and unique composition that make this such a charm and mystery! Refreshing and masterful work!
ReplyDeleteThe bridge is lit in an interesting way, and your composition crop is nice, but your comment is a real hoot - a good parody of an old-time rasio soap.
ReplyDeleteThis yellow bridge seems to appear from darkness. I like this work! Wonderful find.
ReplyDeleteHave a nice day.
very mystical and mysterious ... who knows indeed? well observed, doug, and turned into a striking image!
ReplyDelete(i had a similar 'revelation' once when driving in the dolomites, when we came upon a mountain that was literally vanishing into thin air! you can see it in my portfolio, if you like, under http://atticus.aminus3.com/image/2010-12-11.html !)
very mysterious! i like it!
ReplyDeleteIt,s gonig to the hapiness.
ReplyDeleteGood shot.
Greetings.
From here to ... the heaven ???
ReplyDeleteI like this golden color.
Good shot!
Greetings.
It's a strong picture with an open eye. I like you interpretation of it, the mystery that comes out of vanishing into nothingness. The low afternoon sun makes for some lovely light. Maybe the road doesn't lead to darkness, but comes out of darkness?
ReplyDeleteoooooweeeeeooooo!!
ReplyDeleteDoes fate really exist, D?
ReplyDeleteWhat is fate?
If giving up on chocolate can save the world, I might give it a go. ;o)
This is a fine piece of engineering art, Doug.
ReplyDeleteWonderful sense of mystery you've captured here my friend--as always, your vision is exceptional
ReplyDeleteGreat light!
