Outlier

Fox Theatre and Bank of America Plaza, Atlanta, Georgia  © Doug Hickok

Situated among towering skyscrapers and modern edifices, the Moorish style of the Fox Theatre stands apart from the group, daring to be different. Coming soon to the theatre for a performance is the Celtic Thunder group. Celtic music and Islamic architecture in the heart of the old South. My how times have changed. What would Scarlet have thought of that?

  2. Fantastic perspective of this beautiful building. Scarlet would have said she'd think about it tomorrow.

  3. After living in Atlanta for 25 years, Doug, the Fox Theatre became one of my favorite venues for so many wonderful plays and shows. But I have never seen a view of it from this perspective. WOW! I'm amazed! Well done.

  5. Good angle Doug...and isn't it wonderful to see the contrast between the Moorish style and the more usual, contemporary architecture...

  9. again, taken from a very cool angle! the bank of america building, though "universal 20th century" style, is quite attractive, whereas the old theatre looks exotic/oriental indeed, like the synagogues used to be. celtic music in such an environment must be intriguing to listen to ... ;-))

  12. Gorgeous shot! I visited Atlanta in the late 70s and it was already so modern then, at least for my provincial eye...

  15. The contrast between the two is so big but still it does not disturb. Even if I like modern architecture, I am more attracted toward the other one. I like the Moorish lines and forms and the colors on the wall. Very nice.
