Beginning as a 16 year old, she spent five years in seven different labor camps. Remarkably, she was able to hide over 300 letters, post cards and photographs from the authorities, documents that told the story of her young life. ReplyDeleteThanks so much for this Doug--wonderful post. My grandfather was in Buchenwald for 18 months. He was captured as a member of the Belgian resistance. He came out 90 lbs but by his own admission he and the other resistance fighters were treated worlds better than the Jewish prisoners.
