Very beautiful indeed. This reminds me of the door I posted of the Farmers and Exchange Bank on Feb. 25 on my blog. The ironwork is masterful in so many old doors here in Charleston!
Hi Doug. Thx for supplying the image data of your previous shot. Your blog is a wonderful source of ideas for me. Sorry to hear about the plague of pterodactyls afflicting Charlestone of late, thx for my Sunday morning chuckle. Love the ornate fleur de lis scroll decorations on this door panel. The letter slot may be a thing of the past. Unfortunately we have had a plague of bills through ours so I boarded it up.
a captivating example of great craftsmanship! kudos to the owner of the house for preserving this gem and not replacing it with a "modern" front door ... ;-)
I saw a documentary about The Manor of More, a lost palace built by Thomas Wosley on TV this afternoon. An ornate column discovered on the site looks just like this door!
I like this crafts on the door. Wooden or iron desing are fantastic. Great shot, Doug. Tones and textures are something special in your frames. Very good job.
I love doors and this one is stunning with the french romantic detail, I love it!
ReplyDeleteWonderful picture!

Fascinating close-up of this beautifully carved wooden door. The craftsmanship is really nice; I would love to reach out and feel those textures.
ReplyDeleteNice craftsmanship here, not something you see everyday.
