Back Dunes

Back Dunes, Beachwalker County Park, Kiawah Island, South Carolina

Behind sea island dunes, hardy plants and animals thrive in a hot, dry and salty environment. Inkberry, one of these plants, forms a colony rooted in the sand. Tracks of a ghost crab weave through this miniature forest toward the beach.

  1. Beautiful colors. I love the color change on the sand. It really makes me remember the feel of cool sand on my feet.

  3. The color of the sky and the sea is so nice that the shade was affected the image.

  7. Super composition. And what really makes this a great photo is the light! It's always about the light!

Reminds me that I got our car stuck in the sand dunes in south Texas. Almost didn't get it out.

Also reminds me that the PGA championship is being played this week on Kiawah Island and I fully intend to watch as much of that as possible (on TV!)...

I love almost white sand dunes, and certainly on the beach and beautiful blue sea. Yours.
