Rocky

Rocky Outcropping, Thunder Hole, Acadia National Park, Maine  ©  Doug Hickok

Like a boxer standing firm after repeated whompings, this rocky outcropping of granite weathers the impact of incessant winds and waves along the rigged coast of Maine. Fractures along the joints give this eroding rock the visage of an old pugilist, veteran of countless bouts with the elements.

(thanks for the positive feedback re the fist image of my st. marx cemetery series! i, too, love (old) cemeteries, both for their historical and cultural significance, and i always try to visit at least one graveyard whenever i travel!)

  4. Have you heard of Gunung Mulu National Park in Malaysia?
That's actually a World Heritage Site.
And there's a cave in the park known as Deer Cave.
Guess what? You can see Abraham Lincoln in that cave!!!
Go and Google Image "Abraham Lincoln" "deer cave".
    You'll know why...

  5. Excellent detail in the rock, and good composition to include a slice of the water and the distant shore.

  9. nice DOF for an appealing result. with the rocks, it looks like something to stare at and figure out the shapes you can see in them.
