Old Double Doors, Savannah, Georgia © Doug Hickok Like Schubert's Unfinished Symphony, these old doors have much to admire, and even though they are incomplete, they stand alone as a composition. Perhaps a little neglected behind the rhythm of the balustrade, they have survived the test of time, and conduct themselves like a true classic. D.C. al fine. Hope you have a classic weekend as well. (Image shot on Fujichrome Velvia RVP 100 color slide film, using a Nikon F3HP camera, and a Nikkor 105 mm f/2.5 lens while wearing elf ears and a kookaburra feather in my pork pie hat.) Fine. |
Great character and color Doug. We don't have too many cool doors around the suburbs of SoCal...thousands of houses that look alike, yes...cool doors, no.
ReplyDeleteThat's pretty neat! It actually looks quite artistic as is.
ReplyDeleteI like that door in these colors, blue and yellow are complementary :)
ReplyDeleteI think this is a part of a nice building.
Have a good weekend!
HA! I love your description as much as the image itself, Doug. :D Well done.
ReplyDeleteawesome contrast colors, interesting
ReplyDeleteWonderful composition and color.
ReplyDeleteAnd I like the Schubert reference.
Wow nice!
ReplyDeleteI like a lot, there is a beautiful contrast about the colors!
ReplyDeleteGreat find!
Happy weekend,
Léia
Love the worn, shabby but chic seediness. I'm not sure where the elf ears and kookaburra feather fit in but they must have inspired this masterpiece.
ReplyDeleteOh, I really like this one.
ReplyDeleteLovely color and detail. Excellent framing - perfectly in square with not an irrelevant element included nor an important element cut off.
ReplyDeletefantastic colors and framing

Lovely classic feel to the doors and yes, the peeling paint and unfinished look just adds to the shot!
ReplyDeleteexcellent find and composition. nice colors here.
ReplyDeletebeautiful objects, intricately designed and crafted! but apparently somebody ran out of paint at one point and left it like that! still looking very attractive!
ReplyDelete(thanks for your comment today, doug! i like the reference to harry potter and tim burton!!! you, too, have a great weekend!)
Funny... I actually prefer the original colour.
ReplyDeleteGold looks best on these days.
Don't you think?
Elf ears and a kookaburra feather...
New summer/ autumn collection for leprechauns? ;)
A simple but nice and harmonious composition.
ReplyDeleteBoth the pattern created by the door and its colour combination makes it worth while to be photographed.
Cheers,
Donato
